This course will provide you with an overview of lean healthcare including:
- the origins of lean healthcare – where did lean thinking begin and how did it make it’s way into healthcare
- lean healthcare characteristics – efficient, reliable, delivering high quality, top performing
- key principles applied to lean – value-added vs. non-value added activities
- an overview of the many tools and methods utilized in lean healthcare
- the challenges of applying lean healthcare
Your Instructor
Charles E. Noon, PhD
Dr. Noon is head of the department of Business Analytics & Statistics at the University of Tennessee. He is a founding member of the highly-ranked Physician Executive MBA program and continues to teach in the program. Dr. Noon also teaches in the department’s Masters and PhD programs, and in a number of executive education programs including the longstanding “Lean for Healthcare” offered by the University of Tennessee.
His teaching interests include operational improvement, business modeling, simulation, and decision analysis & support. He holds a PhD in Industrial & Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. His published research concerns computer-based modeling and process improvement.
